Foot Reflexology

Foot reflexology is the unique method of using the thumbs and fingers to stimulate the nerves ending in each foot. These nerve endings correspond to each organ and sructure in the body, through reflexology, various “relax points” in the body can activate the body in it’s own healing process.

The principle behind reflexology is that every part of the body corresponds to specific areas in the feet, hands, face, and ears. As the body is mapped in the feet, it is possible to treat the whole body by applying specific pressure to various parts of the feet. A condition or an illness is an imbalance in the body. An experienced practitioner will feel for congestion and tension in the area and apply appropriate pressure. These techniques restore balance and free blocked energy, and ultimately allow the body to heal itself.

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction that also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “lie force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. Reiki can be used to induce a healing effect.

In  typical whole body Reiki treatment, the Reiki practitioner instructs the recipient to sit on a chair or lie down on a table, and relax. Loose, comfortable clothing is usually worn during the treatment. The treatment proceeds with the practitioner placing the hands on the recipient in various positions.

The hands are usually kept in a position for three to five minutes before moving to the next position. Overall, the hand positions usually give a general coverage of the head, the back, the shoulders, the knees, and the feet.
